What is Phase I/Phase II Liver Detoxification?
In phase I of liver detoxification, fat-soluble substances are converted to intermediate metabolites mainly by a group of enzymes called cytochrome p450 enzymes. The intermediate molecules are often more reactive and potentially more toxic than the original substance. Phase II detoxification involves the attachment of other molecules onto these intermediate metabolites to make them non-toxic and water-soluble and allow their elimination via the urine or intestines.

Warnings and Contraindications:
If pregnant or nursing, consult your healthcare practitioner before using this product. Folinic acid and 5-methyl-tetrahydrofolate supplementation is not recommended concurrently with methotrexate cancer therapy, as they can interfere with methotrexates anti-neoplastic activity; however, these folate sources have not been shown to interfere with the anti-inflammatory activity of methotrexate. An individual taking methotrexate for psoriasis or rheumatoid arthritis can safely take a supplement containing folate.
