Herbs such as hawthorn and ginkgo have vasodilatory effects on the cardiovascular system, lowering the resistance to blood flow in the peripheral vascular system. Other positive actions on cardiovascular structure and function include inotropic effects, increasing heart rate, contractile force, and nerve conductivity.
