Stressful conditions trigger the body to prepare for fight or flight by signaling the adrenal glands to produce additional epinephrine and norepinephrine; this in turn leads to increased heart rate and increased production of glucose to prepare the body for strenuous activity. When the stressful situation has passed, the adrenal glands call on coritsol to stop the additional production of epinephrine and norepinephrine.

Unfortunately, many stressed individuals have inadequate adrenal cortisol production and are unable to bring epinephrine and norepinephrine secretion under control. As a result, the continually elevated levels of epinephrine and norepinephrine can exacerbate stress.

Calm-PRT is designed to reduce the over-secretion of epinephrine and norepinephrine by restoring proper communication within the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis. Calm-PRT contains an extract of the adaptogen Rhodiola rosea (a source of biologically-active rosavins) which has been found to decrease the effects of stress and fatigue.

Calm-PRT also contains SerinAid, a high-quality preparation of phosphatidyl serine. Phosphatidylserine is a major component of cell membranes, and has been shown to restore sensitivity to desensitized cortisol receptors within the HPA axis. Glycine and taurine are included for additional inhibitory neurotransmitter support. Calm-PRT provides neurotransmitter support for stress, anxiety, and restlessness.
